Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga - TCTSY

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a method of yoga developed, researched and found to be of great healing and benefit to survivors of complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For survivors, it offers a path to recovery and well-being. Developed by David Emerson and Bessel van der Kolk.

Trauma-Sensitive yoga sessions are slow and gentle, grounded in choice with a rhythm of engaging, integrating, and resting. You may notice that cues are offered invitationally and that you will be offered choices within and between forms.

Trauma-Sensitive yoga offers an opportunity for you to be in complete control of your body in the present moment. You are welcome to make choices and notice sensations in your body.

Group sessions (6 week series) or one on one sessions. There is a brief introductory meeting required either by video chat, phone or text before sessions begin.

Come as you are.

TCTSY uses Hatha Yoga forms as a way to access the body, functioning as a bottom-up approach to treating trauma. There is never any pressure to achieve the “correct alignment” as we move through various asanas or yoga forms. Rather, you will always be offered choices for ways you might engage with each form, and you’ll be offered many gentle reminders that there is no way to do this practice wrong. Everything is always optional, and taking breaks, skipping things, and doing things your way is warmly welcome.
No physical assists are provided during a TCTSY session, there are no required physical props, and
no prior yoga experience is necessary. Find out more about TCTSY

Sacha is officially certified through the Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga 300-hour program based on protocol developed, studied, and empirically validated by the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute of Brookline, Massachusetts.
